Welcome to the website of the Burleigh Masonic Lodge.

Our Lodge meets monthly at the Burleigh Masonic Centre, First Avenue, Burleigh Heads.  Our members also meet socially several times each year with their partners and families.

If you are interested in becoming a Freemason, feel free to contact Greg on 0418 754 825

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest secular fraternal societies. It teaches its members moral and spiritual values through ceremonies based on the customs of ancient stonemasons, set against the allegorical backdrop of the building of King Solomon’s Temple.

Freemasonry welcomes men of good character and of all ages, races and creeds. It encourages self-improvement, promotes patriotism and respect for the rule of law, sanctions equal rights under law, practices good will towards mankind and contributes generously to worthy causes. A favoured old saying amongst members is that Freemasonry ‘takes good men and makes them better’.

Why do men become Freemasons?

Freemasonry is many different things to those who join. For some Freemasons the appeal is in the ceremonial aspects; for others it’s about making new friends and acquaintances; others wish to contribute to charitable causes and the community; while some enjoy Masonic history and tradition. No one reason is better than another. Many of our members would tell you simply that Freemasonry is just another part of their lives, or a source of friendship with like-minded, decent people.
